Hello dear readers!
Happy Easter!
Thanks to the Good Lord my coptic bookbinding workshop in Good Friday was a success.
We had 4 very interested  students in a very auspicious place (the studio of Coletivo 308).
I was very impressed because we got a pupil who went from Osasco city... far far away from Guarulhos!
All these pictures were taken by Alexandre Villas Boas.

  1. So fun to see you in action. And I notice you are using a book I have. So I guess I can dive right in by following its directions. ;-) I loved what you said in a previous comment about how old the coptic stitch is, that using it to bind a book is like time travel. I know that is how I feel sometimes when I make a traditional quilt and then quilt it by hand but had not thought about the same being true for book binding.

  2. Oh, by the way it was interesting to learn that you have brothers too. Thank you for your kind words on my post about my brother's passing. They meant a lot to me.

    1. Hi Sheila, thanks for commenting. i have 2 brothers, youngest than me. Unfortunately we aren't so close as i would like but we all live in the same city. When i learnt coptic binding i needed to attend one class to see all the intricacies of it. Longstitch binding was easier, I learnt reading Alisa Golding's instructions.
But believe me coptic binding is so satisfying... all the effort is very worthy.
Thanks again, your comments are very precious to me.
