Manchester 5: Meu segundo domingo / My second Sunday
It is Sunday morning and I went to the service at ICOC Manchester!
9 Derby Street
From Victoria Station is a brief walk through Cheetham Hill Road.
Let me tell what happened when I took the tram to Victoria Station: I sat and nearby there are a dad and his little boy that are talking to each other very lively (at least the little boy were very lively). His dad was very patient with him. They talked until they got their destination and I was so awed by their interaction. I think that it is becoming very rare and it is sad because it should be normal, a dad talking to his 3 or 4 years old little boy, correcting when necessary.
Glória a Deus!
What I liked most in ICOC Manchester community is that it is equal, the same as São Paulo and Guarulhos communities: multethnic and cozy. I felt at home there since the first service. I said goodbye convinced that the same Holy Spirit that enlives the churches of Sao Paulo and Guarulhos enlives the church of Manchester. Soli Deo gloria!
Eu queria experimentar o famoso Yorkshire pudding.
After the service I had lunch in a very traditional restaurant near Albert Square which serves the Sunday Roast. I wanted to know personally the famous Yorkshire pudding.

The dessert: a little cake with toffle sauce and custard
After lunch we took a bus to Platt Fields Park in search to Apple Party.

Um domingo excelente! / A great Sunday!!

Sounds like a perfect Sunday to me! Very nice that you could attend the church service and feel welcome and connected by the same spirit. And that roast beef and Yorkshire pudding - it looks so fabulous!
ResponderExcluirHi Sheila, thanks for writing!
ExcluirYes, it was a very perfect Sunday: it was my second (and last) attendance to the service and people already had seen me and they were very amiable and solicitous. I saw... I guess... 4 birthday cakes been sliced and distributed after the service! I thought to myself... like in the church I belong! I talked with an older lady and shared much similar experiences in this 2 decades of being Christian and some experiences are very similar, although the differences between language and culture.
Ah, the lunch... one of our greatest extravagances... The restaurant was a bit posh, but the meal was superb. It valued each pound it costed.
A immersion in English culture, you could say! He he!!
Thanks again!
